Availability means nothing without access
An approved Huntington’s disease treatment could change lives. But approval alone will not pay for care, resolve an insurance delay, or help a family afford the cost of reaching a treatment center.
Take Back Tomorrow HD Foundation is focused on funding access to FDA-approved HD treatments. Our fundraising supports a path to care for patients facing financial barriers.
Preparing for the Gaps
A treatment may receive FDA approval before an insurer has established coverage. A patient may be waiting for Medicare to begin. Another may have insurance but face unaffordable out-of-pocket costs—or have no coverage at all.
These are the gaps we are preparing to help close. Families should not have to watch a treatment become available while wondering whether they will ever be able to receive it.
A Clear Path to Assistance
Once the first HD treatment receives FDA approval, we will begin accepting applications through an online form on our website.
With a physician’s order for an FDA-approved HD treatment, assistance will be provided based solely on queue position and availability of funds. We will not means-test applicants, rank them by disease progression, or select whose need is more deserving. Treatment decisions belong to patients and their treating physicians.
Building Access Before It Is Needed
We are raising funds and developing partnerships now so we can begin helping patients as treatments become available and sufficient funding is in place.
We also advocate for timely coverage decisions and help families understand the steps between approval and care. Access takes funding, clear information, and systems that respond to patients’ needs.
