Treatment Access Is the Gap We Are Preparing to Close
Huntington’s disease treatments are moving through clinical development, but approval alone will not guarantee that a patient can receive treatment. Insurance policies, prior authorization, Medicare timing, copays, travel, treatment-center capacity, and the lack of coverage can all stand between an approved therapy and the person who needs it.
Take Back Tomorrow HD is preparing to help fund access after an HD treatment receives FDA approval. With a physician’s order, assistance will be provided according to queue position and available funds. We will not means-test applicants, rank them by disease progression, or decide whose need is more deserving.
Why We Are Preparing Now
Families may face a coverage gap after approval, while waiting for an insurer to establish a policy, while appealing a denial, while waiting for Medicare eligibility, or when insurance does not cover the treatment at all. Even when coverage exists, deductibles, copays, coinsurance, travel, and related costs may still make treatment unreachable.
Our role is to help close that gap through treatment funding, advocacy, education, and practical support. We are building the fund and the process before the first approved treatment arrives because families should not have to start from zero on approval day.
What’s Happening in HD Treatment
The HD treatment pipeline includes multiple investigational approaches at different stages of clinical development. We publish dated updates so families, advocates, and donors can follow what changes over time—including trial progress, regulatory milestones, and access developments.
Help Build Treatment Access
Applications are not open yet. Once the first HD treatment receives FDA approval, we will publish the application process, queue policies, and funding policies based on the treatment that is approved and the access requirements families actually face.
